How Oakden Property works
A building-science diagnostic platform that gives you clarity on what is actually happening in your home — before you hire the wrong trade.
Describe your symptoms
Upload photos, describe what you see, and select the area of concern. You do not need to know what the problem is — just describe what you are observing.
AI triage runs
Our AI classifies the issue type, severity, likely causes, and urgency. It also flags what evidence might be missing and which building system is most likely involved.
Understand the likely cause
Get a clear, plain-language explanation of what is probably happening — moisture intrusion, thermal bridging, failed envelope, structural movement — before you call anyone.
Choose your escalation
Self-serve guidance is free. If the issue warrants it, escalate to a remote Building-Science Review, a thermal diagnostic, or a credentialed on-site field assessment.
Take action with confidence
Know which trade to call, what questions to ask, and what a fair price looks like — so you do not hire the wrong person for the wrong problem.
Real examples
See how a diagnosis works
Here is how Oakden Property processes common home concerns — from symptom to recommended action.
Symptom
Window condensation + attic frost
Diagnosis
Elevated indoor humidity combined with air leakage into the attic space
Next step
Ventilation review and air sealing assessment
Symptom
Basement wall staining after rain
Diagnosis
Exterior grading directing water toward foundation, not a structural crack
Next step
Grading correction and weeping tile inspection
Symptom
Diagonal cracks from door frames + sticking doors
Diagnosis
Possible foundation settlement or seasonal movement
Next step
On-site structural assessment with monitoring

Three service levels
Not every problem needs a full on-site assessment. The right level of investigation depends on what you are dealing with.

Expert Review
Paid remoteA human building-science expert reviews your submission and provides a trade-neutral diagnosis. Covers moisture, thermal, insulation, and envelope problems. Delivered before you call the wrong trade.
Field Services
On-siteCredentialed inspector attends on-site. Includes thermal imaging, specialist coordination, and forensic reporting where warranted. For complex, high-stakes, or insurance-grade situations.
Our approach
Building-science methodology
How the AI reasons about symptoms
The AI does not guess at random. It applies building-science principles to connect your symptoms to likely root causes. For example, interior window condensation combined with attic frost points to elevated humidity and air leakage — not failed windows. The system maps symptoms to building systems (envelope, HVAC, structure, moisture) and traces cause-and-effect chains rather than treating each symptom in isolation.
What confidence means in results
Each diagnosis includes a confidence indicator. High confidence means the symptoms strongly align with a known building-science pattern and the evidence is sufficient. Lower confidence means the AI has identified possible causes but cannot narrow them down without more information — additional photos, in-person inspection, or specialist equipment like thermal imaging.
When the system says “I am not sure”
Honesty builds trust. When the AI cannot reach a clear diagnosis — because the evidence is ambiguous, the symptoms could point to multiple unrelated causes, or the issue requires physical access — it says so. It will tell you what additional information would help and recommend an Expert Review or Field Service rather than guessing. A confident wrong answer is worse than an honest “this needs more investigation.”
When human review is recommended
The system recommends human expert review when the issue involves safety concerns, when multiple building systems could be involved, when the symptoms suggest a progressive or structural problem, or when the financial stakes are high (pre-sale, insurance claim, major renovation decision). AI triage is step one — not the final word.
About the AI
The AI is a triage and classification layer — not a certified on-site assessment. It helps identify likely causes and the correct escalation path, based on the symptoms and evidence you provide.
Remote Building-Science Reviews are human-reviewed by building-science experts who assess your submission in full context. AI output is one input — expert judgment is the output.
Field services use credentialed inspectors and verified specialists. Thermal imaging, forensic reporting, and specialist coordination are available for complex cases.
